Wisdom Tooth Infection
Wisdom teeth usually erupt in the late teens to early twenties and many people hear about the problems they cause including wisdom tooth infection.
Wisdom teeth are the last set of teeth that humans develop. Since many people simply don’t have any room in their mouth for these last teeth, they have a possibility of developing abnormally. This abnormal eruption and development can cause wisdom tooth infection. Instead of erupting straight upward, it might develop sideways and crash with the tooth beside it. If this happens, your gums will have more room for food particles and debris to become trapped which results in tooth decay and can lead to infection if not treated as soon as possible.

Wisdom Tooth Infection Home Remedies
Wisdom tooth infection can cause anything from minor to severe pain and might cause headache and gum swelling. When a wisdom tooth aches, the usual remedy would be to extract the tooth. Taking away the tooth can make the pain more bearable but here are also home remedies for an infected wisdom tooth that are both cost effective and surprisingly simple.
Placing a piece of onion on the painful part can alleviate the pain and ease the discomfort brought by a wisdom tooth infection. You can also chew garlic since garlic is known to make teeth strong and healthy.
Clove oil can be applied directly to the painful area and the swelling gums. It can alleviate the pain and treat the infection. You can also make a paste from clove oil, pinch of pepper powder and a quarter of a teaspoon of rock salt and apply directly to the painful part. This oil can also be mixed with garlic and rock salt, which can be a very effective home remedy for a wisdom tooth infection.
Applying camphor oil to the affected area can also bring relief and reduce the pain.
Another home remedy for wisdom tooth infection is wheat grass juice, which can be used as a mouthwash. Wheat grass juice can wash out the toxins in the mouth, which slows down and prevents bacterial growth. This reduces the infection and eases the pain as well.
Massaging your cheeks gently and applying ice to the jaw can help in relieving the pain. Remember not to apply the ice directly to the wisdom tooth since it will make your tooth more painful. Extreme hot and cold temperature can aggravate the pain brought by wisdom tooth infection.
If you are experiencing severe pain it is best to consult your dentist before applying anything to your infected wisdom tooth. This is to avoid any complications that might lead to bigger problems. Avoid chewing solid foods and make sure not to touch the affected area. Do not forget to take the medicines that the dentist prescribes to make sure that the pain and the wisdom tooth infection can heal.
